| Principle
of Operation:Intricate
channels within Air Purification Spheres extensively increase the
chemical surface for the destruction of corrosives and contaminants,
as shown in this vastly enlarged diagram of a typical Sphere. |
The major Advantages of
Activated Impregnated Alumina Over Other Media Types . . .
High-performance Activated Impregnated Alumina Media contains activated
alumina that is entirely impregnated with precise blends of dynamic-oxidant
chemicals before being formed into uniformly-sized heavy-duty spheres.
Unique manufacturing procedures then cause each Sphere to become
porous and internally honeycombed with tiny channels that branch
and twist throughout to present massive chemically active surface
areas per unit weight.
Controls Corrosion
As the corrosive gasses and vapours pass over and through the microscopic
channels of the Activated Impregnated Alumina spheres, they are
chemically reacted to yield non-toxic, odourless by-products. The
unified process of Absorption, Oxidation & neutralization that
takes place between the Media and the contaminants are typically
stable, with no desorption of the by-products.
These peerless features account for Activated Impregnated Alumina's
impressive air purification power with longevity of service, compared
to "surface-coated only" media.
Activated Impregnated Alumina reacts to destroy these gases and
vapours |

SAS + Engineering
high surface area medias are produced to the highest Quality Control
Standard in our Modern factory backed by a Certified in-house Laboratory
and are designed for the efficient removal of a broad spectrum of
gaseous contaminants from air streams.
SAS + Engineering Medias are all designed to have the highest possible
removal capacity, physical integrity and lowest possible pressure
drops.
The media consists of essentially, spherical pellets, produced
by intimate mixing of wet and dry chemicals, together with high
surface area materials, followed by curing.
These
medias are hard enough to maintain physical integrity in a dry scrubbing
application, yet porous enough to allow maximum contact with the
pollutant gasses which are converted into harmless gasses and solids
in the process.
At the heart of SAS + Engineering’s air purification systems are
the dry scrubbing, gas phase air purification medias. SAS + Engineering
has various types of chemical filtration media for removal of airborne
gaseous contaminants via physical adsorption and chemical absorption.
Gaseous molecules are held to the high surface areas of the media
and are chemically converted into a non-toxic disposable form.

HVAC Integrated Systems come complete with dust filtration and
chemical filtration all housed in a metal housing with no fan, the
air movement through the system is via Air Handling or HVAC unit.
Side Access Units
SAS + Engineerings side access units “ ASA “ are designed
for both gaseous and particulate contamination control, they are
an integral part of the HVAC system, designed to lower operating
costs.
SAS + Engineerings “ACIF” units are designed for both
gaseous and particulate removal on supply air to compressors, protecting
internal components from corrosive contaminants.
SELF CONTAINED SYSTEMS
Self Contained Systems come complete with dust filtration,
media and fan all housed in a metal housing. These systems are designed
for easy servicing, and suit standard air handlers. The HVAC system
is separate from the self-contained system.
Air Pressurisation and Recirculation Units
SAS + Engineerings have developed a full range of these units,
for many applications that require high efficiency air filtration
with compact low cost considerations. These units remove gaseous
and particulate contaminants from confined spaces, with reduced
amounts of outside air requirements.
The SAS + Engineering “ P “ series is a positive pressurisation
unit designed to supply pressurisation air, free of corrosive gases,
into a controlled area containing computer electronics and electrical
equipment.
The SAS + Engineering “ R “ series is a recirculation
unit designed to recirculate and clean air within a controlled area
containing computer electronics and electrical equipment. The “
R “ unit is designed to filter room air to maintain low corrosive
gas levels in industrial environments.
Packed Bed Scrubber Units
SAS + Engineerings have a full range of Packed Bed Scrubbers “PBS’s”
designed for applications that have high contaminant gas levels,
areas such as refineries, steel mills, chemical plants, sewage works,
pulp and paper and smelters all having very hostile environments.
They are used to protect electronic process control rooms, switch
gear and equipment rooms.
Drum/Tub Scrubber Units
SAS + Engineerings Drum/Tub Scrubber units are designed for use
in applications where the contaminant gas levels are very high,
such as sewage works, steel mills, chemical plants and paper and
pulp mills. They are specifically designed for the supply of clean
air into process control rooms, switch gear equipment rooms and
out of odorous facilities. |
MODULES / CASSETTES
SAS + Engineering Modules/Cassettes “ AM12, AM18 and
AP12, AP18 “ are the main components in “ ASA and ACIF
“ units. They are the chemical media containers manufactured
in both steel and plastic and come in 75-mm deep bed and 25 mm deep
bed format. They are designed for ease of handling, in that they
have filler caps to remove and replace chemical media, and are available
in factory pre-filled modules, they can be installed in vertical
as well as the horizontal units and are available in half sizes.
All SAS + Engineering designed systems have the following
factors taken into consideration.
- Types and concentrations of contaminants
- Space availability
- Air flow requirements
- Desired media life
SAS + Engineering pay attention to energy and space saving
when designing all systems. Special attention is given to airflow
resistances and to required media residence times. All systems are
designed for maximum life cycling, with accessibility for servicing,
chemical media and dust filter change outs
