NATURE'S
TECHNOLOGY KEEPS YOU COOL
Ever wondered why being next to the sea, waterfall
or large lake is so cool and refreshing? It's because of natural
evaporation - nature's own cooling process.
Cooling occurs when water evaporates, particularly
in dry climates. Outdoor enthusiasts use the evaporative cooling
process when they hang a canvas bag of water in a tree. The water
soaks its canvas container, exposing the surface of the water to
moving air. As water evaporates into the air, the water in the canvas
bag cools significantly. Your body also uses the evaporative cooling
process to keep cool. On a hot day your body perspires and this
moisture evaporates into the air, cooling your skin. If air moves
over your skin, the process speeds up and you feel even cooler.

Cross section of cooler shows warm, ambient air being cooled as
it is drawn over water-saturated pads.
Breezair employs high-tech features to harness
Nature's process. Breezair brings large volumes of air into efficient
contact with water-saturated cooling pads, thereby cooling the air
significantly and gently moisturising it too.
A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT
Breezair provides definite health advantages. Air from outside the
building is drawn through special pads saturated with fresh water,
and the air is gently moisturised as well as being cooled.
Dust particles, pollen and other air-borne particulate
contaminants are trapped in the pads. Breezair is therefore beneficial
for people who suffer from asthma and allergies.
Unlike the dry, positively ionised, artificially
chilled air produced by conventional refrigerative air conditioners,
Breezair delivers cool, humidified, negatively ionised air, which
is far kinder to sensitive nasal passages, eyes and skin. |
Nasal passages do not
dry up and therefore colds and flu are less likely. The negative
ions generate a feeling of well-being and relaxed enthusiasm as
opposed to the feeling of depression induced by positive ions
AFFORDABLE COMFORT
Breezair evaporative air-cooling has a double cost
advantage. It costs less to install and much less to operate than
traditional refrigerative air conditioning.
QUIET OPERATION
Breezair's structural materials absorb residual
noise and the lightweight fan, with its aerofoil vanes, moves a
large volume of air quietly to where it is needed.
INSTANT COOLING
Breezair evaporative cooling systems are designed
to replenish the air in the target space with fresh, cool air within
2-3 minutes. The space will, therefore, be freshened and cooled
very quickly, eliminating the need to turn the system on hours before
it is needed.
INDOOR AIR QUALITY
Breezair is designed to deliver sufficient air to
the target space so that the air in that space is completely refreshed
every couple of minutes. Spent air needs to escape from the space
without hindrance through windows, doors or relief vents. this open
circuit system eliminates sick building syndrome.
IMPROVED LIFESTYLE
AND PRODUCTIVITY
People working and living in a Breezair environment
feel better and are less likely to be absent from work. their concentration
is enhanced by the negative ionisation of the air and therefore
they make fewer mistakes and are motivated to work more effectively.
In a Breezair environment, sleep is more beneficial and users report
that mosquitoes are less prevalent.

Air conditioning: A refrigerative systems recycles
the same stale air, germs and odours
Evaporative cooling: Breezair's
natural cooling system provides fresh, cool, dust free, healthy
air. It completely replaces the air every 2- 3 minutes |

SPACE-AGE
MATERIALS
Most of the cooler is built of "Permatuf" structural polymer,
a material so tough, it is used to make acid baths, car bumpers,
firearms and even parts of satellites. far stronger than metal counterparts,
it is extremely light and therefore easily supported by your roof.
It displays ideal insulation properties to minimise heat and noise
transmission. "Permatuf" is UV resistant and cannot rust
or corrode.
STRONG, ATTRACTIVE
CABINET
The cabinet is designed to enable access without
special tools. The side panels are shaped to form a lattice that
supports and protects the pads against destructive birds and hail.
RANGE OF COLOURS
The EX series is available in beige, terra cotta, slate grey and
heritage green. All other models are available, ex-stock, in beige.
Upon request any Breezair cooler can be colour coated, using a special
process to match your specific requirements.
AERODYNAMIC DESIGN
Reduced air resistance translates into quiet airflow and lower operating
cost. Therefore, wherever possible, the air stream through the cooler
and air distribution modules is guided by aerodynamically designed
passages and aerofoil-shaped vanes.
ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT
SYSTEM
The cooler's electronic brain is located in a rugged watertight
housing. The durable, state-of-the-art, digital, electronic technology
optimises performance and ease-of-use.
ASPEN COOLING PADS
High quality aspen wood fibre is the medium used for EA's pads.
This natural material possesses excellent saturation properties.
Its denseness makes it particularly effective in dusty application
areas where it traps airborne particles.
"CELDEK"
COOLING PADS
The medium in the EX and TBA series is "Celdek", a patented
matrix of transverse layers of corrugated fibre sheeting. It is
durable and efficient in presenting a water surface to the passing
air. Extra-thick pads are used to ensure maximum saturation efficiency.
AUTO WEATHER DAMPER
A clever, automatic damper system assists in preventing drafts when
the cooler is not in operation. Standard with all coolers except
the EA70 and EA90.
ADJUSTABLE FLOAT
VALVE
A valve, activated by an easily adjustable float, manages the water
lever in the reservoir. |
PATENTED
WATER DISTRIBUTOR
Used in the EA and EX series, this exclusive design ensures uniform
water distribution and no clogging.

INTEGRATED WATER
DISTRIBUTOR
The water distributor in the TBA series is cleverly moulded into
the top panel. Exclusive design ensures even water distribution
and no clogging, even if the cooler is mounted as much as 8 degrees
off the vertical.
UNIQUE WATER PUMP
Breezair's unique water pump provides exceptional reliability in
extreme conditions. An important maintenance feature is the bayonet
coupling, which enables quick release from the base for easy cleaning.

SIMPLE, EFFECTIVE,
BLEED FUNNEL.
Accumulation of clogging solids in the water is limited by a combination
bleed funnel overflow and drain. Fully adjustable to cater for varying
climatic and water quality conditions, it is supplied standard with
all coolers.

OPTIONAL WATER MANAGEMENT
SYSTEM
An intelligent alternative to the standard Bleed Funnel, the system
will reduce the amount of water consumed, keep the cooler cleaner,
reduce the need for maintenance, and improve the cooler's efficiency.
An electronic prove continuously computes the level of totally dissolved
solids (TDS) in the water. Whenever the TDS level becomes excessive,
water will be drained off and replaced with fresh water. The more
advanced Water Management System in the TBA and EX series provides
added protection for the pump by switching it off if there is no
water in the reservoir. In addition, when the cooler is not in use,
the system in the TBA and EX Series automatically empties the reservoir
leaving it clean and dry. |

|
| |
EX SERIES
Top-of-the-range, this fully featured series has
it all. Its attractive styling in a range of popular colours has
made it the choice of architects, and discerning owners of homes
and commercial properties. The model pictured is the very low profile
EX125, which is shorter than it companions, the EX165 and EX210.
The EX series operates surprisingly quietly and possess excellent
air pushing power, which overcomes resistance offered by lengthy
ducting networks typical of buildings with multiple rooms. |
| TBA SERIES
Ideal for, but not restricted to, commercial premises, where aesthetics
are important, the TBA coolers are quieter and have more air-pushing
power than any other axial-fan-driven cooler available. The TBA
series is the most recent beneficiary of Seeley International's
enormous, sustained investment in research and development. It features
a unique, clip together assembly that makes it easy to dismantle
for ease of installation. Pictured is the TBA 550, which is taller
than the TBA 350. |

EA SERIES
These coolers boast the greatest cooling capacity per rand invested.
Popular for industrial applications and for areas where dusty ambient
conditions prevail. Pictured is the popular Breezair workhorse,
the EA145. Smaller EA's are also available in side-discharge configuration.
There is also a EA70WV, which is a side-discharge EA70. with a through-the-wall
/ window truncated duct that terminates as a neat, air distribution
grille that fits snugly into a wall or window. The EA90 and EA120
side-discharge can be integrated on a mobile, 100-litre reservoir,
making it ideal for temporary spot cooling. |

| COMPONENTS |
|
| QUIET, POWERFUL,
CENTRIFUGAL FAN
The patented, one-piece, polymer, centrifugal fan, used in the EA
and EX series, enables the Breezair cooler to push large volumes
of air through extensive lengths of ducting. This would not be possible
with and ordinary axial fan. Offset, aerodynamically designed vanes
eliminate harmonic noise. Low inertia enables it to reach and maintain
it's operating speed with minimal power.
TROPIC-PROOF 'SEELECTRIC'
MOTOR
The
heavy-duty -speed or variable speed motor used in the EA and EX
Series is custom designed and features a triple coating of resin
protection against rust and corrosion. As an added precaution the
motor is located outside the main stream of moist air. It displays
a high staring torque, and is cool running and quiet. An adjustable-pitch
motor pulley enables fine tuning for maximum performance and efficiency
relative to the duct resistance, giving you full value for your
money.
STEALTH MOTORISED
AXIAL FAN
The
patented, one-piece, moulded polymer, axial fan, used in the TBA
series, has been engineered for quietness and pushing power. It
is attached directly to a purpose designed motor, fully sealed to
prevent moisture penetrating the motor windings, thereby ensuring
maximum reliability and durability.
The
motorised fan nestles within a streamline-contoured, polymer venturi,
mounted to eliminate vibration. the Stealth fan delivers a constant,
uniform flow of air over the cooling pads and tests show that the
TBA performs better against total system resistance than any other
axial fan cooler.

| "SUPERFLOW"
DROPPER
Forms
the support base for the cooler and provides an air passage through
the roof cladding with a watertight seal. The dropper channels air
from the cooler to either a diffusing plenum, or a polyduct, or
a group of flexible ducts. two, three or four-way airflow directors
dramatically reduce breakout noise and resistance o airflow. Sonic-lined
droppers are also available to further reduce the noise level.

"WEATHER GUARD"
DROPPER
Aesthetically
pleasing on residential type roofs. It is easy to install and forms
the support base for the cooler, providing an air passage through
the roof. Dropper and integral flashing are moulded from high-quality
UV stabilised polymer in colours to match the cooler
POLYDUCT
A
PVC tube, sized to meet individual needs, impregnated with an array
of 90mm holes. One end is connec to to the outlet of a Superflow
Dropper and the opposite end is closed. Used to distribute air uniformly
throughout a given space. ideal for applications such as hot houses
and poultry sheds. More practical than fixed ducting where the installation
is of a temporary nature such as in a hired marquee.
DIFFUSING PLENUM
Designed
for use in buildings without ceilings such as factories and halls.
It attaches to the bottom of the dropper to distribute air horizontally.
The plenum is available with either four or eight outlet diffusers,
each with individually adjustable aluminum vanes for air steam direction.
ENERGY-EFFICIENT
FLEXIBLE DUCTING
A
range of flexible ducting reduces installation time and cost. Designed
for low air-friction-loss. Resists tearing, crushing, fire and growth
of bacteria and fungi. Insulated flexible ducting is highly recommended
for very hot ceiling voids to prevent heat from penetrating the
duct. |
MODULAR AIR DISTRIBUTOR
A
rugged, injection moulded junction box enables different sizes of
flexible ducting to be interconnected without wasteful air leaks.
The box is made up of modules that can be clipped together in various
configurations. As an optional, motorised, gear driven vane enables
precise control over air delivery to specific areas of the building.
For example, the system can be set to cool the bedrooms at night
and the lounge and kitchen during the daytime.
CEILING DIFFUSER
Available
in various sizes of white polymer. features stylish, aerodynamic,
recessed vanes that sit flush with the ceiling and deliver a quiet,
efficient airflow. the adjustable vanes are grouped in modules that
can be removed for cleaning. An easily installable, clip-on, neck
adaptor tailors the diffuser to be connected to various sizes of
the flexible duct.
SWIVEL JET DIFFUSER
Suitable
for both supply and exhaust applications, this attractive, circular
diffuser features a built in damper and nozzle that can be swiveled
through 180 deg for precise air direction. It incorporates spring
snap clips for fast installation and has a removable core for easy
cleaning.
CEILING RELIEF VENT
Allows
air to be exhausted through the ceiling of an enclosed space so
that doors and windows can be closed without impeding the airflow.
This reduces ingress of dust to a minimum.
TURBINE ROOF VENTILATOR
A
range of turbine roof ventilators is available to extract hot air
and fumes from the ceiling cavity or the building itself with no
need for electric power. Cools the ceiling cavity, making the Breezair
system more energy efficient. When used as a relief vent, sometimes
in conjunction with a ceiling relief vent, it provides a passage
for air to escape through the roof, thus enabling doors and windows
to be closed without impeding airflow. |
| DRY PADS |
|
|
Air that does not make contact with a water surface
will not be cooled. A dry spot in a cooling pad will result in air
flowing through that spot at a higher rate than the wet parts of
the pad because of lower resistance to airflow. Breezair features
ensure that the water is evenly distributed over the pads so that
it is presented to the passing air stream as a uniformly distributed
matrix ensuring that all the air makes contact with the water surface
during its passage through the cooling pads.
COOLING CAPACITY
VS AIR DELIVERY
The ability of an evaporative air cooler to create comfort target
space |
depends very much on the temperature of the
air delivered by the cooler, not just on the amount of air that
the cooler delivers. Therefore, Breezair coolers are rated by the
kilowatts of cooling energy that they produce, rater than the volume
of air that they deliver.
LOW OPERATING COST
A typical refrigerative air conditioner uses 980 watts of electrical
power to generate 2.7kW of cooling, whereas a Breezair EA145 uses
900 watts to generate 16kW of cooling. Therefore, a Breezair EA145
generates about six times as much cooling energy per watt of electrical
power than does a typical refrigerative air conditioner. |
